Android apps crash randomly for some users.
-
The problem seems to be due to a bad update of the Android WebView system.
-
Google has released new updates to the Android WebView system and to Google Chrome to address the issue.
Update: March 23, 2021: Google’s workspace status page says the issue with Gmail on Android is resolved.
The company claims that updating the Android System WebView and Google Chrome through Google Play Store should now fix the issue for all users.
The link on Play Store for WebView shows that Google has released a new version of the applications (ver. 89.0.4389.105). Google Chrome also received an update today.
It is not known if this also fixes the issues with crashes of other Android apps. However, you should try to get new versions of both apps to see if the issue is resolved.
