Facebook is the most popular social networking site. Facebook users are therefore faced with a number of hacked accounts. However, recovering Facebook accounts is easier and can be done in just a few steps.
Nonetheless, you should know that your account has been hacked and work quickly to get it back. Once recovered, you will then need to strengthen the protection of your Facebook account and ensure that it is secure.
Below are some helpful procedures to recover your hacked account.
How to recover a hacked Facebook account?
If the password has changed:
The most common type of hack is to change the account password so that the original user cannot access it. In fact, recovering this account is relatively easy. You need to follow these steps to do so.
If only the password has changed and you still have access to the email associated with the account, you can access the “forgot password” option on the Facebook login page.
Facebook will take you to another page and ask you to enter your username, email address, or phone number. You can select any of the options.
Facebook will find your profile, display your specific profile, enter the email address or cell phone number and click “continue”.
A recovery code will be sent to the desired recovery option. Enter this code and click Continue.
Now set your new password and your account will be ready to use again.
If you have no access to email:
If the hacker took it a step further with hacking your account and you cannot access your associated email, then you need to take the following steps to get it back.
Click on the forgotten password option.
Now let Facebook search for your profile by entering your username or email address.
Once you have been located by Facebook, click on your profile, a dialog will open to reset your password.
Click on “You no longer have access to these services” because you do not have access to your associated email address.
Then extended recovery options will be given and it depends on the age of the Facebook account. Old Facebook accounts have the option of security question to recover their account.
New Facebook users can use the “trusted contacts” option to regain access to their account. To do this, enter the email address to which you have access, then click on reveal my trusted contacts and enter the name of one of them. Facebook will provide a link that only your trusted contact can access. Have them click on the link and get the security code for you. Enter the security code to recover your account.
If the password and email address have changed .
If your password, along with the associated email address, has been changed, the chances of recovering the account have been somewhat reduced. To resolve this type of situation, you can follow two procedures. You will need to recover the account either through your cell phone number or your old email address.
When retrieving the phone number all you need to do is go to the Facebook page. Click on the forgotten password option. Then enter your account information such as username or email address.
Once your Facebook profile is displayed, click on it to display the recovery options. Click on the phone number option. Enter your cell phone number, Facebook will send you an SMS with a security code. Enter the recovery code in the dialog box. You will now be able to set a new password for your Facebook account.
The other method is to recover with the email change notification. If your email address has been changed, Facebook will send you an email to your previously involved email address and notify you.
If your email id has been hacked, there will be an option “if you don’t, please secure your account” click on it. You will have the option to secure your account.
Then Facebook will provide you with a number of recovery options depending on the account and security. You may be asked to upload an ID. Facebook will verify this and reactivate your account.
Another option is to enter your date of birth to recover the account.
Another fun option is that Facebook will ask you to recognize your friends by showing you their photos and asking them for their names.
Method -2 (updated May 19 – 2019)
If none of the methods let you get your Facebook account back, here are the new updated methods for you. Facebook just released a new security update that allows you to reset your password without any verification (in some cases) only if you try to reset your password from the device that you primarily use to log into. Facebook.
This means that if your Facebook has been hacked, and if you have tried several methods and it didn’t work, just try the method below;
Open the device that you primarily use for Facebook, such as login, logout, or any activity that you primarily do.
For example; your iPhone has also been using it for 2 years for Facebook.
Just try to recover / reset your password from this device.
If Facebook recognizes your device, you will be able to reset your password without any verification.
To increase your chances, if possible, when trying to reset your Facebook password, use the Wi-Fi / network you use for Facebook like your home Wi-Fi etc.
Method 3 (Updated June 18 – 2019)
Facebook has currently launched a service called:
Identity verification. With this feature, you will be able to confirm your identity by sending an ID document. After sending the ID, Facebook will respond to you within 1-3 days and help you easily recover your account.

Fill out the form, attach your ID.
Send the form to Facebook and wait a few days.
Then, Facebook will send you an email with the recovery information.
Final thoughts
These are the ways by which you can get your hacked account back. Although your account has been hacked, have you ever wondered why this happened? You must try to make your Facebook account safe and secure.
To do this, you need to be clear about one thing: never use the Facebook password for any other account you have. This will help secure your Facebook profile if any of your accounts have been hacked.

Facebook also has the two-step verification version. To enable it, go to your security settings and go to the “Two-factor authentication” section.
Thus, you will always be asked for the security code assigned to your mobile phone number each time your account is connected to a new device.
